She returned to California for law school at the University of California, Davis. Kelley is an attorney in private practice specializing in land use and natural resource law.  She is the mother of two baseball players, both SCDS students, and a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, as well as a former Little League president.

She served on the SCDS Board of Trustees from 1991-96, returning in 2007, and has served as co-president, then president from 2012 to 2017. The daughter of a teacher and independent school head, Kelley firmly believes in the power of independent school education to transform lives.
